Formed at the outset of the Space Race in 1958, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) is tasked with promoting international cooperation in the field of space exploration, especially among developing countries. Delegates in this committee will encounter contemporary geopolitical issues in space exploration, such as future economic ventures or potential cooperation and competition among established and emerging space powers.

As a Specialized Agency, UNOOSA is a committee best suited for delegates of all experience levels with a keen interest in science and technology. Both committee topics use Regular Rules of Procedure. Though not mandatory, position papers are highly recommended for all delegates, and are required to be considered for awards.

Questions, inquiries, and position papers for this committee can be emailed to unoosa@cahsmun.org.

Ronsher Dai | Director

Now in his final year at Mount Douglas Secondary School, Ronsher is unbelievably happy to serve as the director of UNOOSA at CAHSMUN 2026. Since emerging from his first conference in grade 10 with a severe headache and empty wallet, Ronsher has experienced plenty of memorable situations in MUN, from waking up 20 minutes before morning crisis, to deploying Ebola against the population of New York, to fuming as his assassination directive is misread for the second time. When not wearing a suit and concocting another unhinged speech, Ronsher is probably either taking his daily nap (2 hours), writing surreal fanfiction about his round-headed friend (submitted to English teacher), or wasting hazardous amounts of time (not enough to keep UNOOSA from being the best committee at CAHSMUN 2026). Ronsher can't wait to meet all the delegates of UNOOSA, who are all well prepared and have read the background guide. Right?

Bijan Markazi | Chair

Minh Dang Tran | Chair

Minh is a current IB 11th grader at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School, known for his enthusiasm and dedication. Initially, Minh joined the Abbotsford Senior MUN club last year to improve his public speaking skills, but, from the decriminalization of cannabis in UNODC to randomly transforming into Voldemort in crisis, he discovered a passion for the quirky world of MUN. Outside of MUN, Minh is often spotted playing Identity V, most of the time losing, to his dismay. In some rare circumstances, he can also be caught working on homework the day before its deadline. Minh's ambition is to foster a memorable experience for all delegates and is honoured to serve as the Chair for this year’s iteration of the UNOOSA in CAHSMUN 2026!
