The United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA) is a global authority in environmental matters. Its primary function is to serve as a platform for United Nations members to outline goals, policies, expectations, agendas, and standards for matters related to sustainability. As a committee, UNEA will address contemporary issues and allow delegates to contextualize their understanding of the status quo of international environmentalism through a legislative lens.

As a Specialized Agency, UNEA is a committee best suited for delegates of all experience levels. Both committee topics use Regular Rules of Procedure. Though not mandatory, position papers are highly recommended for all delegates, and are required to be considered for awards.

Questions, inquiries, and position papers for this committee can be emailed to unea@cahsmun.org.

Huen Xie | Director

Huen Xie, a senior attending Abbotsford Senior Secondary School, is thrilled to be serving as the Director for UNEA at CAHSMUN 2026. Never imagining herself to be involved in public speaking in her life, she was first introduced to MUN in her sophomore year, and since then, she has been on the hunt for every conference opportunity she can find. Outside of MUN, Huen is passionate about music—whether it is listening to and covering songs that she likes, composing her own music, or diving into something entirely different: getting lost in her IB YouTube videos that are saving her grades, she is more than delighted to bond with anyone over the pains of HL chemistry. Huen is eager to hear about the different views from delegates and overall wishes all those delegates attending the best of luck, hoping everyone has a memorable and unforgettable time at CAHSMUN 2026.

Hassan Jina | Chair

Currently a Grade 10 student at Vancouver College, Hassan is honored to serve as the Chair for the UNEA at CAHSMUN 2026. His journey began three years ago when he tumbled into the world of Model UN and discovered a vibrant community of like-minded individuals who were committed to solving international issues. Since then, Hassan has been actively involved in the vibrant and intellectually stimulating world of Model United Nations, and has become enamoured with the conference experience, whether sessions of fierce debate during moderated caucus, bloc building during unmods, or taking quick lunch breaks at Chipotle. He cherishes the passionate discussions with fellow delegates, the innumerable friendships he has cultivated, and the satisfaction of witnessing his ideas materialize into resolutions. Outside the conference halls, Hassan takes pleasure in practising and performing piano. At CAHSMUN 2026, he eagerly anticipates a weekend filled with groundbreaking solutions, unforgettable debate, and abundant laughter.

Sin Li | Chair

Entering his senior year at Semiahmoo Secondary, Sin Li first became involved in Model United Nations through his participation in his school’s debate club. Despite experiencing his first conference in grade eight as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (which he’d never heard of before the conference), the constant debate, discussion, and socialization that is unique to MUN made him dedicated to the non-spectator sport. Although his historical knowledge may not be particularly extensive, Sin is still drawn to the complexities of international politics that can be seen within various MUN committees. Beyond his passion for MUN, Sin loves to listen to music, follow esports and Formula 1, and read webnovels. He can often be found bothering his friends, procrastinating his homework, or checking out new cafes. Sin is absolutely ecstatic to serve as Chair for UNEA at CAHSMUN 2026!
