The Extempore Crisis Committee (ECC) provides a tremendously daunting yet illuminating journey for delegates seeking a unique crisis experience. From the samurai combat of Japan to the all-encompassing oversight of Big Brother, nothing is off-limits for the Extempore Crisis Committee.

A backgrounder outlining the topic and detailed Delegate Portfolios will be emailed to delegates prior to Opening Ceremonies. Furthermore, delegation assignments will not be provided until the first day of the conference; thus, delegates cannot conduct research and must rely on their creativity and ingenuity to devise solutions to unforeseen crises.

The Extempore Crisis Committee is an advanced committee, featuring fast-paced developments and a high level of debate. Therefore, this committee is only open to the most experienced and competitive of delegates. The committee is conducted in Crisis Rules of Procedure. Due to the nature of this committee, delegates are not required to submit position papers and will be automatically placed into consideration for an award.

Questions and inquiries for this committee can be emailed to ecc@cahsmun.org.

Adrian Pun | Director

As a junior at St. George's School, Adrian is ecstatic and deeply honoured to serve as the Director for the Extempore Crisis Committee at CAHSMUN 2025. When he first stepped into the world of MUN in Grade 7, Adrian was instantly captivated by its unpredictable and constantly changing nature. From heated debates to long nights at the Sheraton, many of his fondest memories come from Model UN; to say that MUN shaped Adrian would be an extreme understatement. However, outside of Model UN, Adrian can be found enjoying a nice cup of cold brew, walking around Kerrisdale, and venturing from one catastrophe to the next. Adrian can't wait to meet all the delegates and wishes everyone the best of luck in their endeavours leading up to the conference.

Cate Shumka | Chair

In the midst of plotting her escape from her junior year at Little Flower Academy, Cate is thrilled to be chairing ECC. Her perilous Model UN journey began two years ago with the single, timid raise of a placard. Despite only making one speech, Cate fell head over dress shoes for MUN. She comes to MUN conferences for the enthralling intricacies of global affairs and stays for spirited conversations uniquely contained within the walls of the Sheraton. Aside from figuring out how to process directives, Cate spends her time watching various animated TV shows, needlessly doordashing food, and dragging old memes, all while ignoring her expansive to-do list of pressing assignments. Cate hopes all delegates enjoy CAHSMUN 2026 as much as she will!

Daniel Fu | Chair

In his final year of high school, Daniel is euphoric to cap off his Model UN journey serving as Chair of ECC at CAHSMUN 2026. Since stumbling out of his first conference with a headache, no awards, and somehow an even worse grasp of ROP than before, Daniel has accumulated a wide range of experiences, from overly ardent speeches and dubious directives to sleeping through unavailing alarms and the occasional bout of conference-induced illness. When he isn’t losing half his lunch break trying to decide what to eat, Daniel can be found inundating his foes with PK fire as Ness in SSBU, slipping on the curling ice, or waking up far too early on weekends to cheer Liverpool on. He looks forward to meeting all the delegates of UNOOSA and hopes they have a memorable experience at CAHSMUN.

Eaton Li | Chair

Entering his sophomore year at Vancouver College, Eaton is excited to serve as the Chair of the Extempore Crisis Committee at the Twenty-Second iteration of CAHSMUN. Since he started Model UN two years ago, Eaton has found a profound passion in this activity. He often enters conferences with great enthusiasm for a weekend of debate, staying up extremely late, and Chipotle. When he is not in a committee session, he will instead resort to playing Brawl Stars, doomscrolling on Instagram, or watching YouTube. Model UN has fostered prized friendships, provided new experiences, and developed valuable skills for him. At this conference, Eaton hopes to shape a valuable committee experience for himself and his delegates. He has no doubt that they will enjoy this weekend and wishes them the best of luck!
