Kevin Nan
| Secretary-General

Kevin is a senior at Fraser Heights Secondary and is thrilled to be serving as the Secretary-General for CAHSMUN 2017. Having been a delegate, staff member, and Model UN Captain at his school over the span of sixteen conferences, Model UN has become an invaluable part of his life. Kevin’s love for Model UN stems from its mix of individual empowerment and collaboration in world affairs. When not on the baseball field or volleyball court, Kevin is a passionate advocate for increasing minority representation in politics and universal access to education. You can often find Kevin in drinking iced coffee, catching up on Homeland or searching for his next good book. Kevin looks forward to creating an incredible delegate experience in March!

Alexander McGuigan
| Director-General

Alexander is a senior student at Port Moody Secondary, and is honoured to be serving as the Director-General for CAHSMUN 2017. His enthusiasm for debate and public speaking led him to join MUN in grade 10, where he has been able to gain both a better understanding and perspective of various global issues. When he's not busy with MUN or the adventure that IB has to offer, Alexander can be found playing golf or hockey, watching various news outlets or spreading his love of aviation to others. Alexander looks forward to creating a unique conference that will provide delegates, staff and sponsor teachers with lifelong memories.

Lia Lee
| Chief of Staff

Lia Lee is a senior student at Sentinel Secondary School who first entered the world of Model United Nations in grade 9. After attending multiple conferences for four years, Lia is honoured to end her Model UN career serving as the Chief of Staff for CAHSMUN 2017. She attended her first conference to overcome her fear of public speaking and is ending her last conference with a desire to pursue a future in international relations. As a result, she has grown a deep appreciation for Model UN and aspires to encourage more young students to enter this community of avid debaters. In her free time, she enjoys playing on the volleyball courts, exploring new cafes, and drawing. Lia is eager to welcome sponsor teachers and delegates to CAHSMUN and hopes to provide an unforgettable experience this upcoming March!

Sasha is a senior at St. George’s School, and is excited to be serving as USG General Assemblies at CAHSMUN 2017. Ever since entering high school, Sasha’s passion for international affairs has grown immensely as he has regularly attended MUN conferences around Vancouver, as well as internationally. Outside of MUN, Sasha enjoys playing and coaching tennis, volunteering for multiple political parties, analyzing public policy, acting in school plays, and shooting photography. With CAHSMUN 2017 quickly approaching, Sasha is hoping to ignite the passion for diplomacy in as many high school students as possible and eagerly awaits to share this memorable experience with all the delegates!

Alex Wen
| USG Specialized Agencies

Alex is a senior at Semiahmoo Secondary School and has always cherished his time in the MUN community. Among other things, he emphasizes the importance of service, leadership, and communication, which are some of the best aspects he enjoys about MUN as well as about his role as a secretariat member. In addition, he has also delegated, staffed, and served as secretariat at various other hotel and day conferences around the Lower Mainland. Interested in not just MUN and politics, Alex also enjoys his other academic interests of mathematics, theoretical physics, military history, and literature, and can often be heard fully exercising his freedom of speech by harshly criticizing certain forms of government, various heads of state, and other social phenomena. When he has spare time, Alex is busy pursuing his hobbies of table tennis, eating ice cream, and roaming Vancouver on the hunt for better bubble tea.

Suzanne Pang
| USG Delegate Affairs 1

Suzanne is a senior at Little Flower Academy and is delighted to be serving as your USG of Delegate Affairs 1 of CAHSMUN 2017. After attending her first conference in Grade 10, she found her passion for MUN immediately as it allowed her to gain a more insightful understanding of international news and rediscover her love for public speaking. Outside of MUN, Suzanne is an avid foodie, amateur photographer and dedicated artist. Her interests ranges from finding the best ice cream in Vancouver to learning more about the study of developmental psychology. Suzanne looks forward to meeting all delegates, staff, and teachers and hopes that they will have the best experience at this year’s conference!

Mary Lin
| USG Delegate Affairs 2

Mary Lin is a senior at Crofton House School and is very excited to serve as one of the Under-Secretary-Generals of Delegate Affairs for CAHSMUN 2017. She first became involved with MUN in grade 9 and has since then gained a great appreciation for international relations. Apart from being devoted to MUN, Mary is an avid activist of gender equality and aims to empower young women around the world. In her spare time, she enjoys geeking out in a science lab, fulfilling her dreams of becoming a food connoisseur, and perfecting her ultimate latte recipe. On the weekends, you can definitely find her either jumping around on a tennis court or honing her amateur DJ skills. Mary looks forward to seeing everyone at CAHSMUN 2017 and hopes that everyone will have an amazing experience at the conference!

Katrynna Uy
| USG Marketing

Katrynna Uy is a senior at Crofton House School. She attended her first conference in grade 9 and is honoured to serve as the USG of Marketing for CAHSMUN 2017 in her final year. Model UN has made her into a more consciencious student - with exposure to world matter, it has enabled her to better understand various mentalities, and rectify simulated global conflicts. Outside of Model UN, she enjoys skiing, baking (although her ability to create successful products are slim to none), and starting new television shows that she never finishes. A fanatic for fine cuisine, she can usually be found eating, with friends, or eating with friends. CAHSMUN 2017 is sure to bring avid debate, new friendships, and a stellar experience for all teachers, staff, and students alike. Katrynna looks forward to creating an exceptional conference and is eager for CAHSMUN 2017 to arrive!

Jerry_9.jpg

Jerry Jiao
| USG Conference

As a junior attending Fraser Heights Secondary, Jerry is thrilled to be serving as your USG Conference for CAHSMUN 2017. From attending his first conference just to avoid staying home for a day to arriving at his most recent one intending to further his ever growing passion for debate and diplomacy, he has loved every bit of his Model UN journey. When not stumbling overtime in moderated caucuses as a delegate or screaming at delegates for doing so as a staff member, Jerry enjoys playing badminton and ultimate frisbee, reading, and hunting for the elusive Dragonite. Additionally, he can often be found either fighting strangers on the streets (for Pokémon gyms) or at his piano, spectacularly floundering through scores of Liszt, Beethoven, and Animenz. He also has a special place in his heart for cringe-worthy puns, although many of his attempts are… in vein. He hopes that delegates will have an amazing time at CAHSMUN 2017!
